Marc Jacobs – Gone Dotty for Dot!

Marc Jacobs has just launched a new fragrance – Dot. Dot joins Lola and Daisy this summer, in a collection of gorgeous fragrances that Marc refers to as sisters! The packaging of Dot continues on the theme of playful and adorable petal inspired bottles that Jacobs is renowned for.

The modern black polka dot design on the deep red glass bottle and large petals on the cap instantly reminds you of a ladybird, and even if you’re like me and hate the real things, you can’t deny that this bottle is delightfully cute! Jacobs has said that the fragrance is inspired by his love for polka dots, a signature style of his that runs through numerous collections of his. He wanted the fragrance to represent the iconic polka dot symbol; charming, elegant, edgy and full of life. I must say, I think the fragrance really does capture the essence of fun and charm, from everything to the scent right down to the packaging!

Instantly when I saw this on display in Harvey Nichols I just had to have a spray and see what it was like, the bottle is so eye-catching! Even the sample sheets had the ladybird design on them, just gorgeous!

Now for the scent… Dot is described as mainly floral-fruity surrounded with exotic notes of coconut and wrapped in gentle vanilla. Top notes of Dot include the exotic dragon fruit and red berries, which add that holiday / summer-time feel to it. The middle notes of honeysuckle, jasmine and orange blossom give it that fruity and fun edge and the base notes of vanilla and coconut give it a subtle finish, meaning it’s not overly sweet.
